2002 Indianapolis – Brickyard 400

August 2-4, What a fun city to visit, party and to watch NASCAR racing.

The journey started Saturday morning after a rough Friday night on the town. Winston Cup Qualifying started at 10:00 AM. It looks like Dale Jr. is up in the Number 8 Budweiser Chevy Monte Carlo. He qualified 3rd behind Tony Stewart and Bill Elliot.

At 1:00 PM, the Internation Race of Champions (IROC) was up. This is the fourth and final race of the season. The race is a 40 lap race around the 2.5 mile oval here at Indianapolis Speedway. Dale Jarrett won the race and Kevin Harvick finished 5th. His 5th place finish was enough to win the 2002 IROC Championship. Congratulations Kevin!!! Especially winning it in his rookie IROC season.

Following the IROC race was Winston Cup Practice. Here are some of the young guns, Dale Jr #8 and Jimmy Johnson #48, coming out onto the track for some practice laps.

Just has practice comes to a finish, you think the day of racing is over with. Not quite!!!! The Busch Series is racing out at Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP).

The Sunday starts out early with the Cup boys putting the final tweaks on the Cars. Then they put the cars through the Winston Cup Inspection prior to being rolled out on the track. Then off to the races!!!
